Explore the impact that modern energy efficiency and conservation programs are having upon this beautiful park, local Native American tribes and communities nearby. Role-playing as energy consultant apprentices, our virtual voyagers have to apply science, engineering, and math to real world energy systems and programs – safely taking down two huge hydroelectric dams, the biggest in world history!
In future modules you will have to evaluate the plans for and examine the viability of more sustainable renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and tidal that will have to replace that lost energy from the dams, making smart economical and ecologically sound decisions for the future. If successful you will then have to help restore the river to its natural state of wilderness, and work with the local Lower Elwha Klallam Native Americans to rebuild their homeland lying beneath the old dam reservoir for the last 100 years.
