Object of the Activity
The object of this activity is to learn about the early
settlers of the Katmai National Park and Preserve lived. You
will in this activity:
- Research video, texts and the Internet to collect
information about archeologist.
- Research video, texts and the Internet to collect
information about Native Alaskans.
- Work under the direction of your teacher to discover
"artifacts" in shoebox examples of an archeological
dig.
Steps to Follow:
- Your teacher will give you a shoebox to explore you
will play the role of an archaeologist to discover what
artifacts they contain and what they tell you about the
person who place them there.
- Using your "tools" gently uncover the soil and
surrounding materials around the artifacts.
- Write about what the personality and lifestyle of the
artifacts contained in your box.
