    An ESL/EFL Companion to Journeys to Wilderness Canyons An ESL/EFL Companion to Journeys to Wilderness Canyons - Petra Jordan
     
    The programs examine how rivers, other natural phenomena, and human activity affect landscapes and plant and animal habitats. Through the four-part series, more than a million middle school students in the United States and other countries will explore the unique ecosystem in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado and compare it with Petra, Jordan, Valles Marineris, Mars and Three Gorges, China.
     
    Journeys is designed to meet national science standards and was developed by One Planet Education Network (OPEN), the National Park Service, KLVX/Clark County School District/Las Vegas, the Satellite Educational Resources Consortium (SERC) in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education, The Weather Channel, and NASA.
     
    Instructions On Use
    There are U.S. Middle School-level lesson plans and program activities and three supplemental curricula on the Black Canyon, Colorado, Petra, Jordan, Three Gorges, China, and Valles Marineris, Mars that teachers and students can experience and choose from as part of the Canyons learning experience. The subject areas are primarily earth sciences and social studies.
